Polytab mural cloth in the Classroom

When it comes to school art projects, teachers are searching for materials that are safe, affordable, flexible, and easy to use with kids—and that’s exactly why polytab mural cloth has become a go-to solution. This professional-grade mural fabric allows students to create large-scale artwork without painting directly on walls. I recently used polytab mural cloth with 3rd and 5th graders to create a collaborative mural where each student designed their own individual element, making it perfect for both independent creativity and group projects.

Preparing the polytab mural cloth was simple and classroom-friendly. I primed the surface and added a vibrant sunrise color gradient, then brought it into the classroom where we could roll it out on the floor. This gave students the space to explore ideas freely something that’s difficult with traditional wall murals. Because polytab mural cloth is portable and easy to handle, it allowed us to set up quickly and keep the environment clean and organized.
For installation, we’ll mount the large polytab mural background to the wall first, then attach each student’s painted element using acrylic gel medium. This modular mural approach makes the process far more efficient than having students crowded around a wall, and it creates a polished, professional final result.

Overall, using polytab mural cloth made the entire mural process faster, more engaging, and significantly easier to manage in a school setting—and we’ll be sharing final photos once the project is complete.
